• - Steam Login (optional): If you choose to sign in with Steam, we store your SteamID, Steam display name, and avatar. We also fetch and store your Steam friends list (friend SteamIDs) to power the friends leaderboard feature. This requires your Steam friends list to be set to public. We never receive or have access to your Steam password — authentication is handled entirely by Steam via OpenID.
• - Email (future use): We may allow you to provide an email address for account features, updates, or support.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• - Game Data: We track guesses, game history, and leaderboard stats.
• - Local Storage: We use browser storage (localStorage) to save your game progress, streaks, and preferences. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to our servers.
• - Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service, to understand how users interact with SkinGuessr. It does not collect personal data or use cookies.
• - Cookies: The only cookie we set is a session cookie required for Steam login functionality. We do not use any tracking or advertising cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• - Provide and improve the Service
• - Maintain leaderboards and game history
• - Show relevant ads and partnerships (e.g., skin marketplaces)
• - Monitor usage and performance of the Service

SkinGuessr does not sell personal data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

We use or may use the following services:

• - Analytics: Vercel Analytics (cookieless, privacy-friendly).
• - Authentication: Steam OpenID for user login.

4. Data Retention

• - We keep your Steam login data (SteamID, name, avatar) and friends list for as long as your account exists.
• - Game history and leaderboard data are kept unless you request deletion.
• - LocalStorage data remains in your browser until you clear it.
• If you request deletion via our support email or the upcoming Delete Account feature, we will permanently remove your stored data.
